What is loyalty?

Day to day I get people coming into the shop complaining that the deals aren't good enough, too expensive, etc. but what really grinds my gears is what I hear 9/10 cases from customers. "I've been with ____ For x number of years, I've been a loyal customers...." etc.

Headline - loyalty doesn't mean anything anymore! now, thats not me saying that, it's the company. We are puppets on a string in a sense, we only have so much leeway when it comes to deals.

Freebies are also extinct. Fact.

Little old me.

Okay, so to get us started I thought you should get to know a little bit about me. I've worked in the phone industry for about a year and a half now and I absolutely love it! I literally have no recollection of ever applying for the job but I'm glad I did, it's not the sort of job role I imagined myself in I'll be honest but it's worked out very well for me. I'm a chatterbox, so working in this part of retail is ideallic.

The type of store I work in does work with commission yes, however that is not a focus for me when I'm having a conversation with my customers. I want to have fun at work, and I want my customers to enjoy themselves with me, and my idea of fun is not pressuring someone into getting a high tariff with a bad phone for an extra £1 in my pocket. Commission is just a bonus for me, I get an hourly rate. I get paid whether someone buys a phone from me or not so that doesn't concern me.

I have a conscious, and I like to sleep at night feeling content rather than worrying about how I stitched someone up with a terrible deal and they will be back tomorrow ranting and screaming. I like to think of my customers going home to their families talking about the great deal they got today and want to encourage other people to come into store too. After all, that's why I got this job.

Welcome!

If you search for information about mobile phone sales people, you generally find more negative than positive reviews. Agreed?

A lot of people complain that sales people are too pushy, work on commission, etc. to which I understand because there are a lot of those around. However, there are others (such as myself) who don't pray on customers pockets when they walk in store and hard sell. The way in which I got into mobile phone sales is because I enjoy interacting with people, making people happy, generally having a laugh.

I felt that someone needed to speak up for us so here I am!
